St. Francis at the Manger Waterglobe
This lovely waterglobe of St. Francis depicts the saint surrounded by animals and looking and praying adoringly at the Baby Jesus in a cradle at his feet. At the base of the St. Francis waterglobe are adorable animals with "Peace on Eath" written on the front.
In 1223, St. Francis asked a friend from
Greecio, to help him set up a manger scene for Christmas. As the townspeople gathered to worship at the site, St. Francis sang and spoke about the Baby Jesus. Suddenly one of the worshippers saw a vision of Jesus in the manger! In the vision, St. Francis cradled him in his arms. Since that nights, the Christmas crib has become a part of popular spirituality.
