Our Lady of Guadalupe also referred to as the Virgin of Guadalupe is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Virgin of Guadalupe is the patron saint of the Americas and protector of unborn children.
Patron Saint of Mexico - Saint Day is December 12th
In 1531 Juan Diego began having apparitions from the Blessed Virgin. To prove to all that the apparitions were real, the Blessed Virgin put a beautiful image of Herself on Juan Diego's tilma ( a very thin cloth that usually deteriorates very quickly), but this tilma is still miraculously intact and the same as it was when Juan Diego wore it. The tilma with the picture of the ever - virgin Holy Mary, Mother of God can still be seen today in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica, Mexico City.
