Tis the Season!

What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Exchanging gifts, Santa and his reindeer team, Black Friday sales? While these images are most often associated with Christmas, they were not the originally intended images of Christmas. Over time, these secular images have replaced the true symbol of the holiday — the birth of Christ. While gift-giving and shopping sales will always be a part of the holiday, starting with this Christmas season, make them secondary to the main priority of celebrating the birth of our Savior.

There are many ways you and your family can welcome Christ back into your holiday celebration. Start by placing tangible reminders throughout your home such as an Advent wreath, nativities, and candles. Send religious-themed Christmas cards to friends and family and listen to spiritual Christmas songs. When deciding what gifts to buy, rather than fighting crowds for the latest gadgets at Black Friday sales, think about giving religious-themed gifts.
