ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI
Feast Day: October 4
PEACE PRAYER

Lord, make me an instrument of
Your Peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury -- pardon.
Where there is doubt -- faith.
Where there is despair -- hope.
Where there is darkness -- light.
And where there is sadness -- joy.
Oh Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek to be
consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are
pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to
eternal life.
Amen.

St. Francis of Assisi is my personal patron saint. My high school commencement speech was based on this prayer. This prayer has been commorated in music which my high school choir sang at my graduation. Mind you, all of this took place nearly 60 years ago in a public, NOT Catholic, high school! When I saw this prayer card and medal, I just had to have it. I hold this card and medal and recite this prayer every day.
