Saint Aloysius was born in Italy in the 16th century and from a very early age was devoted to prayer. He became resolved to join the Society of Jesus, much to the chagrin of his family, although they did eventually relent and allowed him to follow his Jesuit vocation. Saint Aloysius had a premonition that he would die young, and so it came to pass when he contracted the plague. Saint Aloysius is the patron saint of Catholic youth.
This pendant features Saint Aloysius as a young man together with a cross, referring to piety & sacrifice, a skull, referring to his early death, a lily, referrring to innocence, and a rosary, referring to his devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary. Around the image 'SAINT ALOYSIUS PRAY FOR US' is inscribed.
