The Roman Emperor Diocletian showed no mercy to any Christian believer, not even to his Empress wife, Alexandra of Rome. Her husband had her sentenced to death when she revealed her belief in Christ during the public torturing of St. George. These were difficult times indeed.
She died while awaiting her death sentence and willingly gave her soul to God.
