St. Alphonsus (Alphonsus Liguori) is the patron saint of confessors and theologians. Born to a noble family in 1696, Alphonsus began to practice law. But after losing his first case he turned to the priesthood. He would preach to parishes and wrote several works, including his life’s masterpiece, Theologae Moralis.
His feast day is August 1st.
