About St. George
St. George (died circa 303 AD) was a Roman soldier and Christian martyr who became one of the most venerated saints in Christianity. According to the famous legend, St. George encountered a dragon terrorizing a town and demanding human sacrifices. When a princess was chosen as the next victim, George confronted the dragon, made the sign of the cross, and slayed the beast, saving the princess and converting the townspeople to Christianity.
Historically, George was a soldier in the Roman army who refused to renounce his Christian faith during the persecution under Emperor Diocletian. He was tortured and eventually beheaded for his unwavering witness to Christ, becoming a powerful symbol of courage and faithfulness.
