This is a fairly large medal, so be sure to verify the measurements against the chest of the person who will be wearing it to ensure that it is of the proportions you are looking for. That said, the medal and default chain are absolutely beautiful! The polished areas are extremely shiny, and the matte areas are a very fine texture that sets them apart from the polished areas without appearing rough. The detail is better than most...perfect for a guy in that it looks like a piece created with care and devotion to the Blessed Mother, and yet not so delicate that it looks like a dainty women's pendant. This is definitely a quality, heavy piece of jewelry that attracts attention every time it slips out from behind my shirt. (I personally have replaced the beautiful default chain with a more rugged looking, shorter paracord, so if I'm not wearing a crew neck shirt, it is more visible than it would be with the shorter chain that you can get with the medal.) Well worth the price and true to description of the medal that the Blessed Mother asked to be made in devotion to her!!!! (which I found isn't always the case with cheaper medals...)
