This is a Lace Christening Bonnet to Wedding Hankie with 1' lace. With the snip of a few threads the Christening bonnet becomes a trousseau hankie to be used for the bride to be. The poem beautifully explains the concept. Tucked beneath the bonnet is a separate matching handkerchief for the mother of the baby and subsequently the mother of the bride. Beautifully packaged in an heirloom box. Poly cotton fabric.
The poem reads:
I was a little hankie, As square as square could be; But, with a little stitch or two, They made a bonnet out of me.
I’ll be worn at Christening time, Or some other special day; Then I’ll be gently pressed, And carefully put away.
On her long awaited wedding day, We have all been told; Every bride must carry, That something very old.
So what could be more fitting, Than to take out little me; A stitch snipped here and there, And her hankie I will be.
And what if Mother, in your joy, You shed a tear or two; Placed beneath the bonnet, Is a hankie just for you.
