About Our Lady of Grace
In 1830, in the chapel of the Daughters of Charity on the Rue du Bac in Paris, the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Catherine Labouré with rays of light streaming from her hands, which she explained were the graces given to those who ask for them. She asked that a medal be struck with the prayer "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." Its many conversions and healings soon earned it the name the Miraculous Medal.
