Born in Italy, the saint became a theologian, philosopher, and doctor of the church who served within the Franciscan order. He held many important roles including General Minister of the Franciscan order and Cardinal of Albano.
Due to his peaceful manner and brilliant mind he was a much loved and respected professor at the University of Paris. His work as the Franciscans General Minister helped reorganize and refocus the order leaving it on good terms with the Church superiors.
His feast day is July 15th.
