The Green Scapular was given to us by the Blessed Virgin Mary in the early 1840's in France. The Mother of Christ appeared holding in her right hand the Immaculate Heart, and in other hand a green scapular.
The was scapular was a piece of green cloth hanging from a green string. On one side was an image of her dressed in a long white gown with a blue mantle but no veil. On the other side, it had her Immaculate Heart in flames pierced by a sword, with a gold cross on top which had an inscription that read:
"Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us, now and at the hour of death."
Mary wished this scapular be widely promoted as an instrument for the conversion of souls.
