Saint John the Evangelist is also known as Saint John the Apostle. He was a disciple of Jesus who never waivered his support for the Lord. He is the writer of the fourth Gospel, the Gospel of John and outlived all the other apostles.
He is referred to as the "beloved disciple". When Jesus died John was the first to recognize the risen Christ. He took care of the Blessed Mother after Christ's death and also traveled great distances to found new churches.
