Those suffering from poor eyesight or blindness will find a heavenly friend in St. Odilia.
Born blind and rejected by her family, Odilia was raised lovingly in a convent in France. During her baptism at the age of 12, at the moment when the priest anointed her with the chrism oil, Odilia miraculously regained her eyesight. Her father welcomed her back into their home and built for his daughter a monastery at the bottom of their hill so that she could care for the poor and ill of Alsace. The Lord's physical healing of Odilia inspired the spiritual healing of her father.
St. Odilia's feast day is December 13. She is the patroness of Alsace, France and of the eyes.
