The color of the rosary beads can be a significant factor in choosing a rosary. Rosary bead color is linked to personal preferences, saints or occupations. Colors are also linked to seasons in the liturgical year.
Consider that cream, ivory and gold are the colors for “glory” and are used during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Green symbolized growth and is the color for Ordinary time in the Church calendar. Purple is a royal color. In the Church year it symbolizes penance and preparation during Advent and Lent as we await the King of Kings. Red represents the blood of martyrs. Blue is associated with the Blessed Mother.
