Are you struggling with temptation? A Saint Gemma bracelet might remind you that God is here to help and His love is stronger than any temptation!
Life was very difficult for Gemma as at a very young age she was left to care for her seven siblings as well as having very poor health due to a battle with spinal meningitis. Both her parents died, her mother when she was seven and her father when she was eighteen.
Wanting to join the sisterhood, but was denied due to her poor health, Gemma was not deterred from a life in devotion to Christ. It is said that her meningitis was cured in a miracle of prayer to the Sacred Heart.
She had many vision and visits throughout her life from Jesus, Mary, Saint Gabriel, Our Lady of Sorrows and the devil too! Every week on a Thursday stigmata would appear on her hands and feet.
With great attention from the Lord also comes great criticism too. She was considered a fraud by many but the Catholic Church confirmed her visions and stigmata and she is a saint whose life should remind us to love Christ above all else.
Her feast day is April 11th. She is the patron saint against temptations, pharmacists, students, against the death of parents, and those suffering from tuberculosis.
