Saint Daniel is a very important figure in the early Eastern Orthodox church. He is known as Saint Daniel the Stylite.
He was born in modern-day Iraq and became a monk in nearby Samosata. As a monk, he traveled to many holy placed where he celebrated the Eucharist, preached and cured the sick.
Saint Daniel also counseled Emperors Leo and Zeno. He shares the name of the prophet Daniel in Eastern Orthodox tradition.
His feast day is December 11th.
